PX Spotlight: Getting to know Cameron Kiki, Resource Consultant

As Peopleconnexion PNG continues to grow and welcome talented new staff, we continue our series introducing our newest team members to our clients, candidates and contractors.

As a Resource Consultant, Cameron works closely with our Port Moresby team to identify and connect with candidates from across the country.

From the outset, Cameron has impressed with his initiative ? reaching out to our PNG Country Manager Stephen Mead directly and starting a dialogue (a hallmark of any great recruiter, no?).

Since starting with our team, he become known for his ability to tackle every challenge head-on and with a positive attitude, already supporting major recruitment assignments and a graduate programme. Having just completed his introductory recruitment training with our Managing Director Kristine Berry, we?re excited to see Cameron grow and learn over the coming months!

Read on to get to know why Cameron will be one to watch in POM’s recruitment scene.

PX: What are you enjoying about recruitment so far? How would you describe it to someone who’s never been in the industry before?

The main reason why I created a LinkedIn account was to network and meet new people, people that I did not speak to on a daily basis, and I don’t know if it was by luck that I ended up having a meeting with Stephen, and then later, an interview with Fraser Hawkins, Peopleconnexion Regional Manager ? PNG & Asia Pacific.

So far, I am enjoying stepping out of my comfort zone, talking to people with high occupations, interviewing candidates and speaking with clients. So far so good, the first week was very nerve wracking, but as the weeks have gone by, I’ve settled down into my role and I am loving every bit of it and learning as much as I can from my colleagues during our weekly training sessions.

PX: Outside of recruitment, what are you passionate about?

I am passionate about travelling the world. My Mum has worked in the airline industry her whole life to date, and she has travelled to so many places, and I would really love to have that same experience she had.

PX: When you’re not in the office, where can we find you?

You literally can find me anywhere, anytime, my phone is with me 24/7, and you will probably find me at Buffalo Burger, Downtown. Who doesn’t love burgers?

PX: Finally, what is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

From an animated film actually; Spiderman: Into The Spider Verse.

Miles Morales: How will I know when I?m ready?

Peter Parker: It’s a leap of faith, it’s all there is.

Moral? Do what scares you the most, until it doesn’t scare you anymore.
