About the Graduate Development Scheme
The Graduate Development Scheme (GDS) is a comprehensive two-year programme which offers graduates, across a range of disciplines, the opportunity to enter the workforce and obtain on-the job training and mentorship in a world-class mining operation.
OTML offers graduates a challenging yet rewarding environment to kick-start their career. OTML is the largest single employer in the Western Province with PNG nationals making up 98% of the workforce. Because of this, they have established an extensive training and development platform across all levels and disciplines to build skills in an inclusive and rewarding workplace and a culture that is conducive to supporting and shaping emerging professionals to perform to their maximum potential.
The GDS provides graduates the opportunity to work alongside a cadre of experienced professionals in their chosen field across OTML.
We are currently inviting applicants from the below disciplines, in line with the key criteria to apply:
Key Criteria
To be considered for the 2024 GDS, you must:
- Be in your final year of undergraduate study in PNG or an overseas university in 2023
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or a Cumulative Weighted Average of 75% and above in your last three (3) semester results
- Be an aspiring young professional who possess some of the following attributes & qualities:

- Strong written & oral communication skills
- Confidence & decision-making ability
- Sound planning & Organisational ability
- Team player
- Flexibility & adaptability
- Problem analysis & solving skills
