Redundancy reignites coal executive’s career
After a downturn in the coal market, one of our employers approached us as a candidate, believing that redundancies were coming and he needed to prepare for the inevitable. With an already-strong relationship, we spent a two-hour consultation going over his 30-year background, strengths, weaknesses and needs.
The aim was to secure a job in a tight market. But our candidate was sceptical, after already speaking with two other recruiters who?d provided no interviews or concrete feedback. Accepting the pressure to make something happen, our first step was to source potential employers to target. After revising the list and consulting with the candidate, we gained approval to approach 15 companies on his behalf.
After identifying the right person in each business, we promoted the candidate, pointing out the benefits they would add. This was a challenge, as there were no requirements advertised and the current state of the market was in decline. But we were determined, inspired by our passion for the candidate and a desire to make a difference.
We secured him interviews with five companies and he accepted a role General Manager Mergers & Acquisitions. He has been extremely happy in this position and is grateful for the professional service and commitment to see him placed for success.
