Record $58 Billion Pipeline Proposed In 2019 Infrastructure Priority List
Infrastructure Australia’s annual Infrastructure Priority List has identified a record-breaking $58 billion worth of priority projects across the country.
Released yesterday, the report presents 121 significant proposals to guide the next 15 years of infrastructure investment, including eight high priority projects:
- Brisbane Metro, QLD
- Sydney Metro (City and Southwest), NSW
- M80 Ring Road Upgrade, VIC
- M4 Upgrade (Parramatta to Lapstone), NSW
- Western Sydney Airport, NSW
- Monash Freeway Upgrade (Stage 2), VIC
- METRONET (Yanchep Rail Extension), WA
- North East Link, VIC
On the Queensland front, the highest priority projects and initiatives come as no surprise. Topping the list are Brisbane Metro, Beerburrum to Nambour Rail, Cross River Rail, Rocklea to Darra Upgrades, M1 Upgrades from Eight Mile Plains to Tugun and a dedicated rail connection to the Port of Brisbane.
Following the Queensland Government’s proposal of a billion-dollar City Deal put forward to the Federal Government this week, there is anticipation building about what lies in store for the South East’s transportation market over the next five years.
Once the Cross River Rail and Brisbane Metro bids are awarded, we could finally see the burst of market activity and ?pedal to the metal?-style action the industry has been waiting for.
